HOUSTON, Texas – The Cruz for President campaign announced today the endorsement of Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. Gov. Walker made the announcement on the Charlie Sykes radio show in Wisconsin.
“After eight years of the failed Obama-Clinton Administration, Americans are looking for real leadership and a new direction,” said Gov. Walker. “Ted Cruz is a principled constitutional conservative who understands that power belongs to the states – and to the people – and not bureaucrats in Washington. Just like we did in Wisconsin, Ted Cruz is not afraid to challenge the status quo and to stand up against the big government special interests. He is the best-positioned candidate to both win the Republican nomination and defeat Hillary Clinton. That’s why I endorse Ted Cruz for President of the United States.”
MIAMI, FL – Presidential Candidate Ted Cruz announced today the endorsement of former Republican Presidential Candidate Carly Fiorina during a rally in Miami, Florida.
“Carly Fiorina is a strong, principled leader and woman of faith,” said Cruz. “Our campaign is stronger with her leadership and her voice. Her story embodies the promise that in America anyone can start as a secretary and become a Fortune 50 CEO. Carly speaks the truth with courage, doesn’t back down to the Washington powerbrokers, and terrifies Hillary and the Democrats. We are blessed to have her support, and together I am confident we will continue to unite conservatives so that every American has the opportunity to achieve the unimaginable.”
“Ted Cruz is a fearless fighter for our constitutional rights. He has spent his life protecting Americans’ God-given liberties, and he has always stood by his word. Unlike the status-quo political class in D.C., Ted Cruz didn’t cower when he got to Washington – he stood unequivocally for the American people. I know Ted, and he’ll do the same as president,” said Carly Fiorina.
Not only has Greg Abbot know Cruz for many years, but he selected and trusted Cruz as the state’s Solicitor General, where Ted ran an office with hundreds of attorneys, and argued some of the most critical constitutional cases before the Supreme Court.
Quite a coup to be endorsed by both current and former governors of Texas, AND to be trusted by both of them to keep Washington of our backs. Go Ted!
Conservative? Ted fell in love with the Constitution and US history in middle school. Pastor Rafael Cruz says conservatism is hereditary – he learned it from his kid!
Smart and persuasive? A top debater, Cruz was praised by liberal law professor Alan Dershowitz, who called Ted one of the smartest students ever to attend Harvard Law.
Knows how the Supreme Court works – clerked for Chief Justice William Rehnquist.
Knows how to reduce regulation? As Steve points out at Granite Grok, during Ted’s stint at the Commerce Department, he worked to prevent regulation of Internet commerce.
Can run a large organization? As Solicitor General of Texas, Cruz led a team of hundreds of attorneys and their staff, and was considered extremely effective.
Protect and defend the Constitution? The state of Texas, under AG Abbott and Solicitor General Cruz, argued multiple constitutional cases before the Supreme Court, to great effect on the side of originalism.
Knows how to win? Cruz ran for senate against a very well funded establishment favorite, former Lt Gov David Dewhurst, and beat all odds with a convincing win in the final runoff (multiple contenders). It is worth noting, that while Gov Rick Perry supported Dewhurst in that race, he has since carefully evaluated and endorsed Ted Cruz for President.
Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry is endorsing Ted Cruz in the Republican presidential primary, Perry told POLITICO in an interview Sunday night.
Perry, who also sought the GOP nomination before dropping out in September, said he now sees the race as one that is between Cruz, a fellow Texan, and Donald Trump. Through phone calls and during a December day spent driving around his Round Top, Texas, home in his truck with Cruz, Perry said he found the senator to be a good listener who respects the Tenth Amendment, “knows what he does not know” and is more conservative than Trump.
“Of those individuals who have a chance to win the Republican primary, at this juncture, from my perspective, Ted Cruz is by far the most consistent conservative in that crowd,” Perry said. “And that appears to be down to two people.”
Perry will join Cruz campaigning in Iowa tomorrow and Wednesday, and will join with Cruz and Congressman Steve King for a rally in Des Moines on Wednesday evening.
“You’ll have with Ted Cruz […] senators and others in the Washington establishment that are mad at him, find him to be hard to work with, they will find a way to work with him because they know he means what he says he means,” he said.
Perry also said that he is confident Cruz would be prepared for the job, and that he is a far different person than the media caricature of of the Senator: Keep reading….
To take the White House in 2016 Republicans must nominate a candidate who we know will govern according to constitutional principles, who is capable of drawing a clear contrast with Hillary Clinton and the Democrats on the issues of importance in today’s political environment, and who has the brains, talent and discipline to fight Hillary Clinton and win. That candidate is Senator Ted Cruz of Texas. Read the original
