MLK’s “I Have a Dream”… 59 Years Later

Today,  the 603 Alliance released the following editorial in commemoration of the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech on August 28th, 1963:

August 28 is the anniversary of one of the most important and famous speeches in American history. That date in 1963 is when Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech.

King spoke of freedom and “the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence”, which guaranteed “the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

Above all, he spoke of “a beautiful symphony of brotherhood” where “the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together” and “little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.”

Most famously King declared, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

Now, 56 years later, King’s dream is all but forgotten by Democrats, who for decades claimed affinity to King’s ideal.

A Democratic Committee recently fired half a dozen staffers for the sole reason that they were too white. Nobody complained about the staffers’ ability to do their jobs; nobody complained about the content of their character, all they cared about was the color of their skin.

A former Democratic candidate for Congress tweeted that “White people are killing us. Whiteness is killing us.” She wrote “Make a banner about Ending Whiteness. March Against Whiteness. Rally Against Whiteness. Raise your megaphone Against Whiteness. Take to the streets Against Whiteness.

To Progressive Democrats, skin color determines everything, even how people “should” think. Congresswoman Pressley declared that “We don’t need any more brown faces that don’t want to be a brown voice. We don’t need black faces that don’t want to be a black voice.”

Across the country, college protesters, overwhelmingly leftist Democrats, are demanding “safe spaces” where white people aren’t allowed. Segregated dorms and segregated graduations even trump their call for “diversity”.

Dr. King’s dream is a cure for racism: judge people not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.

Republicans are the party that judges people by the content of their character.

Democrats are the party that judges people by their skin color.

Climate Change: the Debate that Never Was

On July 29th, the 603 Alliance hosted a presentation on the science and policy implications of climate change at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College.  Despite our efforts to invite an open and honest debate on the topic, we could not find a single expert on the “climate alarmist” side of the argument who was willing to engage in debate.  Read more about it here.

In fact, the DNC has gone so far as to thwart any attempts to engage the Democrat presidential contenders to debate the topic.

Nevertheless, over 100 people showed up to hear meteorologist Joe Bastardi and climate expert Lord Christopher Monckton present the facts from their point of view.
