SENATOR TED CRUZ TAKES CAUCUS IN A LANDSLIDE

Ted Cruz speaks to caucus gatheringSenator Ted Cruz addresses caucus attendees

The 603 Alliance held the first conservative caucus in the history of New Hampshire. There were over 700 Granite State grass roots activists in attendance. It was free and all Republican Presidential candidates were invited to participate, although not all chose to do so. You could feel the energy in the room as soon as you walked in and people were actually having fun. Fun is not often used to describe political events.

Politico’s Spin on the 603 Alliance

As you know, it takes all kinds, particularly in politics.  Here’s Politico contributor Ben Schreckinger’s spin on our newly formed 603 Alliance:

New Hampshire conservatives plan anti-Jeb Bush caucus

[Politico.com] Taking aim at Jeb Bush, a group of leading New Hampshire conservatives and libertarians are preparing to stage their own caucus three months before the state’s first-in-the-nation primary — and then unify behind the winner.

Sick of the string of centrist GOP-ers who’ve dominated the state’s primary in recent years — including John McCain (twice) and Mitt Romney — conservatives and libertarians are hoping to defy the conventional wisdom that the Granite State is moderate-friendly turf between the evangelical-dominated Iowa caucuses and socially conservative South Carolina. Why it’s so hard for conservatives to unify behind one candidate

Why it’s so hard for conservatives to unify behind one candidate
By JOHN DICKERSON

[CBSNews.com] The field of announced Republican candidates has recently doubled to six, with the entry of Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina, and Mike Huckabee. When you add the candidates who are almost certain to soon join the race–Jeb Bush, Gov. Scott Walker, Rick Perry, and Gov. Chris Christie–and the others who might, the field will be big enough to fill an airport shuttle van. The stage at the first Fox News debate in early August will have so many people on it, the organizers may need to put everyone on bleachers.

The Republican presidential pageant is vastly more diverse than the Democratic coronation. The GOP field includes a female CEO, a black surgeon, two Cuban Americans, a lawyer, and a preacher.

Philly: N.H. coalition tries to tug GOP vote away from the center

[Philly.com] NASHUA, N.H. – Libertarians and conservatives have banded together in a diverse coalition to try to end New Hampshire’s reputation as a RINO preserve.

Calling itself the 603 Alliance after the state’s area code, the group plans to stage a caucus in October to unify behind a single conservative candidate before the GOP presidential primary three months later. Organizers say they are sick of the nation’s first primary anointing centrists they consider “Republicans in Name Only.” Continue reading Philly: N.H. coalition tries to tug GOP vote away from the center

The prospective presidential candidates who showed up for the GOP cattle call in Nashua last weekend heeded the plea from state party chair Jennifer Horn to refrain from intraparty squabbles. Not so for the conservative activists who stuck around for Sunday’s alternative conference.

The “Summit of Grassroots Activists” was hosted by the 603 Alliance, a new political committee attempting to coalesce support among conservatives for a single presidential candidate and leverage that support to help the endorsed candidate win the party’s first-in-the-nation presidential primary.

NH Conservatives Plot to Unite Against Jeb Bush

[Breitbart.com]  A group of conservatives and libertarians in New Hampshire have come up with a plan they hope will block former Gov. Jeb Bush (R-FL) from becoming the Republican party’s nominee for President.

The idea is to hold their own presidential caucus in October and select a candidate behind whom they would all unite.

The group is called the “603 Alliance,” named after the only area code in New Hampshire. According to a report by Politico, the plan was instigated by “years of simmering discontent within the state Republican party,” as conservative, libertarian, and Tea Party activists have grown increasingly frustrated with the moderate Republicans who have won the state’s primary in recent years.
