Founding 603 Alliance Board Member, Omer C. Ahern, Jr., has been called home by our Lord.
In his last weeks, Omer became aware he was nearing the end of his life. He told us that he had accepted his health status and was prepared to “go home.”
During his very productive lifetime, Omer was many things: mentor, colleague, friend, loving father, devout Catholic, proud Patriot, dedicated to our Constitution, public servant, and proponent of freedom and liberty. He served in many public-servant roles: Omer was a member of a planning board, a town moderator, a selectman, a State Representative, and a County Commissioner in two NH counties.
During campaign season, Omer’s well-known sign — “Hit a Homer with Omer” — brought cheers from his many supporters.
Omer’s early years were in the Claremont area, and later years were in the Grafton County area. He was an active Rotarian and a dedicated conservative Republican. If a crowd needed to be brought to order, Omer’s booming voice got the job done, and he was well-known for belting out a heartfelt rendition of God Bless America.
For many years, Omer was a member of the Rotary, the Grange, the Tea Party Patriots, and a lifetime member of the School District Governance Association.
Omer was a graduate of St. Anselm College and received his JD from Gonzaga University of Law in Spokane, Washington. He passed the NH bar in 1979 and opened his own practice, but humbly referred to himself as a tree farmer.
Omer will be lovingly remembered for his kindness and consideration and will be missed by all.
A Mass at St Matthew’s Church in Plymouth, NH, is planned, and the date will be announced soon. Dupuis Funeral Home in Ashland, NH, is handling this service and will have updates posted on their website.
